Plagiarism Policy

Diwan Al-Ma'rifah Journal for Applied and Human Sciences is committed to maintaining academic integrity and ensuring the originality of all manuscripts submitted for publication. The journal does not tolerate plagiarism, self-plagiarism, duplicate publication, fabricated or falsified data, improper citation, or any other form of academic misconduct.

All submitted manuscripts are screened using plagiarism-detection software such as Turnitin, Plagiarism Checker X, or other approved tools before being sent for peer review.

The overall similarity index must not exceed 20%. Properly cited quotations, reference lists, standard scientific expressions, and commonly used methodological descriptions may be excluded from the final assessment when appropriate.

Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:

  • Copying text, ideas, data, tables, figures, or results without proper citation.
  • Paraphrasing another person’s work without acknowledging the original source.
  • Presenting translated material as original work without citation.
  • Reusing substantial parts of the author’s previously published work without proper reference.
  • Submitting the same manuscript, or substantially similar work, to more than one journal.
  • Using images, questionnaires, tables, or other protected material without permission or proper attribution.

A similarity score below 20% does not automatically guarantee acceptance. The editorial board evaluates the nature, location, and source of the similarity. A manuscript may be rejected or returned for revision if it contains unattributed copying or unacceptable overlap, even when the total similarity percentage is below the permitted limit.

If plagiarism is detected before publication, the journal may:

  • Return the manuscript to the author for correction.
  • Request clarification or supporting documents.
  • Reject the manuscript.
  • Suspend consideration of other submissions by the same author.
  • Notify the author’s institution or funding body in serious cases.

If plagiarism is discovered after publication, the journal may issue a correction, publish an expression of concern, or retract the article, depending on the seriousness of the violation.

Authors are fully responsible for the originality of their work, the accuracy of citations, and compliance with research and publication ethics. The final decision is made by the Editor-in-Chief and editorial board after reviewing the similarity report and the author’s explanation.
